Weight Loss Obstacles or Detours?

weight loss and sustainable weight loss is a constant pursuit of peace that’s riddled with the opposite...chaos, confusion and angst. When talking to women, I hear this same theme over and over again. “I just want to feel peaceful in my body and with food”. This desire and longing generally comes from this feeling of being out of control and constantly feeling like they ‘HAVE TO’ actively think about food or their bodies all day long in order to make progress or maintain their weight. This feels far from peaceful, am I right? This was so true for myself included for so many years, so I completely understand. So, then the question becomes, how can you find peace AND make progress? To start, what if you imagined your weight loss journey as an adventurous road trip, knowing obstacles will come and may block your path, but deciding beforehand to see them as just detours vs roadblocks leading to unexpected, empowering discoveries and ultimate success along the way.
Perception is everything on your journey…
Your deep rooted beliefs matter.
Your ability to see your potential matters.
Your willingness to get things wrong before you get them right, matters.
Your ability to take full ownership of your body and your choices, getting real and honest with yourself matters.
Your deepest desires and wants, no explanations needed, matter.
Weight loss roadblocks aren’t a sign that something has gone wrong or that it’s time to stop, but a sign you need to seek a new direction. There’s always more than one way to arrive at any said destination. Don’t let a weight loss plateau, counting macros and not losing weight sustainably or a physical roadblock be an excuse or reason to give up on yourself or your goals or to stop trying altogether. Collect your data and try something new…
When you cultivate the ability and a mindset to navigate mental and physical roadblocks and obstacles, stopping isn’t an option. Not because you ‘shouldn’t’ stop or because you ‘can’t’, but because you’ve tapped into your deepest desires and you don’t want to stop.
